Update on “The Last Page”

Posted by Anthony H -

After being so saucy, albeit tongue-in-cheek, I did get some emails that made me smile. I’m glad to have entertained what few folks straggle through these parts.

Sometimes I worry I’m just typing to the void.

Of course if I’d enabled comments I might get more reassurance, but you see, I just can’t be bothered to check posts for obvious trolling or whatever.  Me blogging is a stretch on it’s own.  Me responding to email is near-heroic.  Me validating comments just isn’t going to happen.  So, I apologize.

Anyway, looks like “The Last Page” just went to the compositor, which means I’ll have proof pages in a few weeks.  My super nice editor at Tor even went the extra mile and explained to me (since I’m an uninformed n00B on the process) what proof pages are. Basically they are like the copy edit except I only have to send back the pages that need changes — instead of the whole giant brick.

He also said that Tor is moving to a paperless process on this so “Black Bottle” will likely be a .pdf file instead.  Good idea.  Can you imagine how much money they’ll save per year in printing and shipping?

Back on topic: bound galleys will be headed my way shortly and I’ll have a stack to hand out to reviewers, so if you’re a reviewer and you want one, send me a link to your blog or what have you and we’ll talk.

Bottom line: everything seems on track and I’m excited.  Yay me.
