When You Are Actually Busy

When you are actually busy you stop playing games. You sleep more because you are tired from having slept less. You get cranky. Sometimes you even say that you don’t give a damn. When you are actually busy, you still kiss your kids on the way out the door but you don’t watch TV. When you are actually busy, the movie ticket you paid for doesn’t get used. When you are actually busy you eat while you are doing something that feels more important than eating. You wake up in the night thinking about the thing that is making you busy. You look forward to the time when you won’t be so busy. When you are busy, your body hurts and you might feel like you need a massage…but you don’t find the time to get one, which really sucks.

The Ghost of a Ghost Story

So I had this idea for a short story that I thought about writing. But then I was like, mmmm…

Not that I think it’s a bad story idea, but ideas are only as good as their execution and I suppose I was a little shy of going down the whole sub-culture path that talented people like Felicia Day have already pounded both flat and smooth. Additionally, I think the concept is just a little too transparent and, well, kitschy for me to enjoy writing.
