Christmas break.

I thought I’d officially and forever lost the magical privilege of two weeks off when I graduated from university.  Corporate America doesn’t believe in it the way schools and colleges do.  Corporate America believes in opening its doors at midnight or 3:00 AM.  Even if some poor sod gets trampled in the mad rush for incentivized buying and dies, well…at least the retailer met goal.

Early Winter Morning Goings-On

Writing at five in the morning leaves certain things to be desired.  Like walking down the staircase and stepping on that toy in total darkness, nearly falling to my death.  On the other hand, with Nikki and the kids still wrapped in warm darkness and only the sound of the furnace running (yes, in December furnaces do run in Texas), I find that once I shake off the haze, my path on the page becomes remarkably clear.  And even if I’m delusional in the early morning and I only think it’s clear, at least I’m happy, right?
